Helmet Size Guide

A helmet only protects you properly when it fits. Take two minutes to measure before you order.

How to measure your head

  1. Use a soft measuring tape. No tape? Use a piece of string, then measure the string with a ruler.
  2. Wrap it around the widest part of your head, about one inch above your eyebrows and just above your ears.
  3. Keep the tape level all the way round and comfortably snug.
  4. Measure two or three times and use the largest reading.

Match your measurement to the chart

Sizing differs between helmet models, so always use the size chart shown on the product page of the helmet you want. Don't assume your size in one helmet is your size in another.

How a helmet should feel

  • Snug all the way around, with the cheek pads touching your cheeks.
  • No pressure points or hot spots on your forehead.
  • With the strap fastened, the helmet should not roll forward off your head or twist freely side to side.
  • New helmets loosen slightly as the padding beds in, so a firm fit is normal.

Between two sizes?

Email contact@ridercape.com with your measurement and the helmet you're looking at, and we'll help you choose.

Gloves, jackets and boots

For riding gear, use the size information on each product page and compare it with your own measurements.

Description

Gloss black and barely there: this beanie half helmet is one of the smallest, lightest DOT approved options for riders who dislike bulky gear. The compact shell avoids the mushroom look and the low weight keeps it comfortable from short hops to full-day rides.

Key features

  • Gloss Black finish: a rugged, timeless look on a minimalist shell.
  • Fabric liner: keeps the interior fresh and reduces the itch that helmets can cause.
  • Contoured fit: hugs the head to lower the risk of lifting at speed.
  • Ratchet quick-release strap: easy to adjust for a secure fit and fast to remove.
  • ABS shell with fiberglass layer: the high-impact ABS shell diffuses impact energy, and a fiberglass layer is listed alongside it.
  • 1-inch-thick polystyrene: meets the minimum requirement for DOT certification.
  • Low weight: described as less than a standard bottle of water.

Specifications

  • Weight: 1 lb 5 oz / 600±50 g

Sizing

Use a tape measure around your head just above the eyebrows and the top of your ears, then see the size chart below. Between sizes, pick the smaller one. A snug fit is normal when new, and the helmet shapes to your head with a little use.

  2. Keep the tape level and comfortably snug, then read your head circumference.
  3. Match your measurement to the size chart for this helmet in the description above.

Between two sizes? A helmet should feel snug without pressure points. Not sure? Email contact@ridercape.com before you order.
